Dismantling a Dangerous Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga Menziesii) at Go Ape Bedgebury Pinetum

After several years of managing and regular inspections this 95ft tree was deemed too unsafe to keep and so we were called in to take the tree down to ground level. It was an interesting job, as you can see the activity course runs very close to the tree, so care was need not to damage the installation.

This tree was climbed using climbing spurs (spikes) from the ground up, branches be stripped on the way, it was then cut into small pieces and dripped to an agreed drop zone on the floor where no damage could be caused.

We signed and cordoned off the worksite and worked early before the course opened as to not cause inconvenience to our client.
