Quick decision needed

Sometimes when on site the job can change pretty rapidly. This is the time that a quick decision needed. Whilst on site on part of an 8 day contract the team noticed two very unsafe trees. These trees, growing in a woodland environment had shifted at the root plate. They were in imminent danger of falling down. The big issue here is the woodland is somewhat public. And duty of care is such that these trees need to be made safe.

What decisions were made?
It was immediately apparent that the trees had to be felled, yet there was no chance that they could be climbed the traditionally way. The choice was clear – time to hire in a MEWP. Fortunately we have the best contacts and after a call to PG Platforms in Kent, we had a cherry picker on site within 2 hours. With only 10cm spare access for the machine it was a tight squeeze.

Impressed!
We were really impressed with the MEWP that we had on site, it had a 21 metre height and large enough reach that we could easily complete the job on time. Clearly there was a little overspend as the MEWP was unforeseen. Our client was happy to realise this cost as they appreciated out quick and professional approach to this rapidly evolving situation.
